Engineer Attempts to Build the World's Fastest LEGO Car

Projectair Fastest LEGO Car
Engineer James Whomsley, also known as ProjectAir on YouTube, set out to build the world’s fastest LEGO car and it wasn’t a straightforward process, despite all of the parts available to him. He tinkered around with various wheels sizes, motors, gear reductions, batteries, etc. before deciding to go to the dark side with non-LEGO parts.

Why did James decide on going the non-LEGO route?

Well, he only managed to get the LEGO car up to 12 km/h (7.46 mph), which meant it needed some more powerful parts in order to break the 16 km/h (10 mph) barrier.

So, he opted at first for a rocket-powered LEGO car before moving onto a standard brushless motor from an R/C car that manages to boost its top speed all the way up to 42 km/h (26 mph).

Unfortunately, that speed was just too much for the LEGO parts to handle and they promptly vibrated apart.
