Every brand new LEGO set available from January 1, 2023
Dozens of new LEGO sets from themes including Icons, Star Wars, Marvel, Avatar and The Lord of the Rings are now available to order, and 40580 Blacktron Cruiser is free with qualifying purchases. The first day of the year marks probably the single-biggest release day in the LEGO calendar, with at least 119 new LEGO sets launching at LEGO.com and in LEGO Stores on January 1. Among them are heavy hitters like 10312 Jazz Club - this year's modular building - and 75347 TIE Bomber, the first set of its kind in nearly two decades.
Between all the new stuff out now and the backlog we're inevitably all playing constant catch-up on, you shouldn't have any trouble reaching the threshold for this year's first gift-with-purchase, the nostalgic 40580 Blacktron Cruiser. The Classic Space redux is free with all orders above GBP170 / £190 / EUR190 from today until February 14, or while stocks last. The LEGO Art team continues to think beyond the canvas with 31208 Hokusai - The Great Wave, a three-dimensional interpretation of the legendary woodblock print. LEGO Avatar
Have you seen Avatar: The Way of Water yet?
If so, chances are you came out of the cinema itching to get your hands on at least a couple of the tie-in LEGO sets. (It is a film all about the visuals, after all.) They're finally available now, from 75575 Ilu Discovery all the way up through 75579 Payakan the Tulkun & Crabsuit.
LEGO BrickHeadz
Four new LEGO BrickHeadz sets are available now, among which are the first LEGO The Lord of the Rings sets in a decade. They're joined by a brand new Star Wars character in 40615 Tusken Raider, which genuinely looks like one of the best BrickHeadz builds to date.
LEGO City
And now for something completely (or at least slightly) different, a phrase we never thought we'd use for LEGO City. But this is 2023, and apparently anything is possible: including an overhaul of one of the LEGO Group's core themes, now under the direction of Monkie Kid co-creator Simon Lucas.

Twelve brand new Collectible Minifigures are now available to bolster your army of tiny plastic people, and they're probably some of the most desirable in recent memory (at least outside licensed series). Highlights of 71037 Series 24 include the brown Classic Space astronaut, Black Falcons falconer and conservationist (complete with koala).

LEGO Creator
2023 is surprisingly thin on the ground for new LEGO Creator 3-in-1 sets, but more will hopefully follow in March. The pair we have so far are both worth your time, though, each approaching nature and wildlife in different ways.
Elsewhere, 40644 Pinata is a one-stop shop for colourful pieces. Just don't try to eat the prizes you win by breaking it open...
LEGO Disney
This year marks Disney's 100th anniversary, and rumours suggest we'll be seeing some sort of celebration of that from the LEGO Group later in 2023. For now, we've got four new LEGO mini-doll-themed sets to enjoy, covering a variety of different movies, characters and subjects.

Feeling crafty? LEGO DOTS is going from strength to strength in 2023, persisting well beyond the community's expectations for the theme.

Seven of LEGO Marvel's 10 new sets already confirmed for 2023 are available now (you'll have to wait until March for the Spidey and His Amazing Friends wave), with 76247 The Hulkbuster: The Battle of Wakanda and 76248 The Avengers Quinjet both offering serious upgrades on previous designs.
LEGO Minecraft
A total of seven new LEGO Minecraft sets are out now, and as an entire collection they're pleasingly affordable.
Our pick is 21241 The Bee Cottage, a set that would never make Nic Cage cry: "Not the bees!" Because it looks good. And it has bees. Good bees.

LEGO Monkie Kid
If you're lucky enough to own last year's 80036 The City of Lanterns, you should be feeling pretty smug right now: 2023's best new LEGO Monkie Kid set so far, 80044 Monkie Kid's Team Hideout, is designed to connect with it. You can test out the combo for yourself right now.
LEGO NINJAGO
Mechs, bikes, dragons, mech-bikes and mech-dragons?
Well, if it isn't our old friend LEGO NINJAGO. The theme's Core wave returns this year with nine new sets, chief among which is a towering new titan mech for Jay. It should pair perfectly with 71738 Zane's Titan Mech Battle.
LEGO Speed Champions
Bucking the usual release calendar for LEGO Speed Champions comes 76917 2 Fast 2 Furious Nissan Skyline GT-R (R34), one of the theme's first sets in recent memory to launch in January.
It's also the third inspired specifically by a movie, and the second from the Fast & Furious franchise.
LEGO Star Wars
January's quartet of LEGO Star Wars sets have a little something for everyone: between a BrickHeadz, a Microfighter, a battle pack and the first TIE Bomber in 20 years, you won't have trouble finding ways to part with your cash.
LEGO Super Mario
LEGO Super Mario kicks off 2023 with six new expansion sets and a new wave of collectible characters, all ready to expand what's possible with your interactive courses.
Still no minifigures, but with The Super Mario Bros.
Movie right around the corner, who knows what the rest of the year will bring...
LEGO Technic
Just five new LEGO Technic sets are available from today, but among them are a couple of golden entry-level products in 42147 Dump Truck and 42148 Snow Groomer, and one that conjures up memories of Technic sets of yesteryear in 42151 Bugatti Bolide.
