The Panasonic LZ1000B isn't a TV we've reviewed, but we put its flagship stablemate, the LZ2000, through its paces earlier this year.
The LZ2000 received a five-star rating and a Recommended award after impressing us with sensational image accuracy and immersive audio, and the LZ1000 shares a number of characteristics with its more expensive sibling. Crucially, it uses the same HCX Pro AI processor, and it also supports the same HDR formats - HDR10, HDR10+ Adaptive, HLG and Dolby Vision IQ - and has the same 120Hz refresh rate. That refresh rate, combined with a pair of HDMI 2.1 ports supporting 4K@120Hz and Variable Refresh Rate, make it a fantastic choice for next-gen gamers who want to get the most out of their PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X.
It also includes Panasonic's Game Control Board, which lets you adjust key gaming settings via an easy-to-access UI. The LZ1000's Master OLED panel is slightly less advanced than the LZ2000's Master OLED Pro, so won't deliver quite the same image quality, but still houses a heatsink that allows it to hit higher brightness levels than most OLED TVs. On the audio front, the LZ1000 supports Dolby Atmos and Panasonic's Cinema Surround Pro, but uses a pared-back speaker arrangement when compared with the LZ2000.
Other welcome features include auto picture adjustment based on the type of content you're watching and the ambient light conditions in your room, support for Filmmaker mode and Netflix Adaptive Calibrated mode, Alexa built-in, OK Google, and a swivel stand that lets you easily adjust the angle of the screen. It may not be the very best Panasonic OLED available - that title goes to the LZ2000 - and if you do have the cash, we'd recommend picking that up for its new lowest-ever price of GBP1,999. But the LZ1000 is a fantastic choice for those on a stricter budget and provides stiff competition for OLED rivals from LG, Sony and Samsung.
