Everything Leaving Netflix in August 2022

Every month, Netflix adds a bunch of new content[1] to its library of films and TV shows. But to make room for the newbies, some of the shows and movies you always wanted to watch--and had in your My List for months or years--suddenly disappear. That's because Netflix[2] doesn't own all the content it streams.

The deals it has with networks, production companies, and movie studios mean much of that content comes and--unfortunately goes--with startling regularity. So each month, we keep you up to date with the latest list of what's leaving the service, whether you're a Netflix veteran or are just signing up now(Opens in a new window)[3]. Let's start with a peek at our top choices for what you should view before it's too late.

The full list is below.

We Summon The Darkness (Gone August 7)

[embedded content] If the last season of Stranger Things didn't satisfy your hunger for 80s-set horror, catch We Summon The Darkness(Opens in a new window)[4] before it's gone. The 2020 flick follows a trio of girls at a heavy metal concert, the boys they meet, and the Satanic ritual murder that ensues.

Good stuff.

Wheel of Fortune: Season 35-37 (Gone August 24)

[embedded content] Plenty of content lurks in the depths of Netflix that you'd never expect to find. Who exactly is the target audience for past seasons of Wheel of Fortune(Opens in a new window)[5]?

If it's you, you only have a little while left to binge these three seasons of wheel-spinning, phrase-guessing fun.

Starship Troopers (Gone August 31)

[embedded content] Paul Verhoeven is one of the true geniuses of genre film, and his scabrous take on Heinlein's Starship Troopers(Opens in a new window)[6] is a relentlessly bleak and hilarious satire of the fantasy of interstellar warfare. It was critically panned when it came out but in hindsight it's great.
